38-year-old man has a meltdown when 29-year-old dog mom girlfriend spends her remaining money on medicine for her sick dog instead of spending it on him: ‘You’re acting like I shouldn’t be prioritizing his comfort or wellbeing’

If you asked us to, we would jump in front of a moving vehicle to save our doggo. You wouldn't even have to ask us; we would do it instinctively. If we only had $5 left to our name, we would buy our dog food before ourselves. It's our responsibility to provide for them, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Any pet parent would. 

There was a time in our lives when we were really struggling. We were living paycheck to paycheck and were having trouble making ends meet. We also had a four-year-old dog to take care of. One month, we had to really tighten the financial belt in order to make sure we could keep our dog fed. Our friends called us "extreme" for not going out and spending any money, but this is what parents do. We put our children (be they four-legged or two) before ourselves. And if you're not ready to do that, then you're not ready to be a parent.

Lol I dont I used afterpay I had like $9 and change and with afterpay it was like $3.81 What could u even get for 9 bucks Well technically it was over $9 it was $15 and change but I got a cone of shame and some Hotspot spray to hopefully soothe his itchy skin.     For context. I lost my job back in June burned through what little savings I had paying my bills and I wont have money coming in until the end of August.

  • She got off lucky. It seems like dog medicine has gone up over the last couple of years. We had to give our doggo some antibiotics recently, and we were appalled at the price of them. And the best part? Not even covered under our dog's insurance. Great.

    11:28 71 U tell me u cant see me cause u aint got money but then u go put urself in debt over ur dog. When u aint even got a job to pay it. Having $9 is hardly having money. And the way it works out every 2 weeks I should have my first from new job by the time the 3rd payment is due with the $9 i have enough in there for the 2nd payment.     I have expressed my stress over Financials because I will have to let other bills go late to pay rent but with enough possible OT its a hole i can climb out of. Since we've been seeing each other I didnt think it was inappropriate to discuss with him.

    Additionally. My dog has seasonal allergies and usually gets an injection at the vet once he starts having a reaction but since I lost my job I haven't been able to fford it so he developed a hit spot on tbe side of his face which is growing despite mt efforts to treat it at home.

    this comment. I cant tell you why it took me 7 months to figure this out but youre all very very right. I spent a couple hours reading comments, waiting a bit, refreshing and seeing 30 more comments. come in and its scary but also very encouraging to have that many stangers see and support you.
